Little Bat

Little Bat

A couple of years ago, my husband and I had the pleasure of rescuing a juvenile male common brown bat suffering from a head injury. We were surprised to learn that many juveniles suffer flying mishaps as they learn to maneuver in the air (and they are often hit by vehicles). His condition was very similar to whiplash, so he was unable to fly. Fortunately for him, he landed in my garden and I'm a sucker for animals.

He was taken to BatWorld NOVA, who nursed him back to health and released him back into the wild. If I'm not mistaken, I believe he was also tagged and is now monitored for study purposes.

aww so cute, i have a similar story as well, when i was younger my brother and i were riding our bikes, when he yelled, oh i just ran over a frog, so i jumped off of my bike to go see if the creature was okay, and it turned out to be a bat. so we brought him home, and with my fathers help we nursed him back to health and set him free :]

Artist Reply: :-) I love rescue stories (especially when they turn out good)!
