Year of the Tomato

This year is a good one for tomatoes. I can pick about 15 gallons from seven varieties about twice a week. Most are given away or go to the food dryer!

Makes my mouth water, Jerry! I keep planting tomatoes, and the mole keeps undermining them. The wilt and die. I got very few tomatoes last summer. I am considering pot gardening on the deck!

Artist Reply: Thanks, Julie, I am proud of my tomatoes. If you grow them in pots make sure they are at least 5 gal size and even bigger would be better! Like a whiskey barrel! Don't feed them too much nitrogen, but lots of potasium and phosphate, and never let the soil dry out!

And I expect to see every variety for the calendar...good shots...the 2nd is superb.

Artist Reply: I am working on it. I need at least a week for the Japanese tomatoes to ripen - then I will pick the Holly and put them in a wreath!!!
