Inside the Basilica di San Pietro in Vaticano. Much of the interior isn't shown in this picture; there's enough space inside for some 60,000 people!

I am amazed. Spent 2 hours photographing there in January, and was unable to get great results - no tripod. Great work!

Artist Reply: This was actually a hand-held shot. . .but it was also back in the days when trusty SLRs weighed more than a package of Twinkies. If I were faced with low light or unsteady hands, I would rest the camera on the floor, hold it against one of the pillars or borrow a chair. Thanks so much for your comments. Hope you get a chance to go back.

Wow ! What a beauty ! Both the photo and place ! My hair on my arm rice up, thanks for sharing.

Artist Reply: Thank you for a very nice comment, Sigga. It has been a long time since I traveled in Europe, but I still get goose bumps thinking about some of the marvelous places I've seen. I appreciate your stopping by to take a look.

Wow..thankyou for sharing this. Marvellous work both from the eye that capture this and the great artists...

Artist Reply: Yes, it's always humbling to be a mere photographer taking pictures of the beautiful work of other artists. The challenge for us is to do justice to their work. Happy to share this. Thank you so much for your comment.

It's so hard to imagine the hard work of the true artists that created such beauty. Thanks for sharing this awesome photo!!

Artist Reply: Thank you so much Mary. Although this photo was taken many years ago, it has stood firm in my memory. It's truly an awe-inspiring accomplishment. Glad I had the opportunity to see it.
