NEWTON'S LAW

Original oil on hardwood box (48" by 24") w/ found objects & narrative: "Like the faint memory of her scent, she lingered. Hauntingly so. I recalled Miss Molly Mawkins glancing over her shoulder as she sashayed up the stair and into the coach, the forlornity in her eyes, still fizzing with desire, and her whispered words echoed in my mind: “It’s for the best.” That and the hissing steam made me think of all things locomotive, and it hit me -- she had pushed me away in order to move herself forward. Call it Newton’s third law of love. Yet all I know of women is the extent to which I remain utterly clueless." - I. Newton Deaudeux Images: copyright 2008 Patrick Pierson
