Venomous Promises (sold)

In this eerie, twilight zone like depiction of Jon Jaylo's illusion-constructed labyrinth, he has decided to delve into deeper recesses of his own soul and seemingly fragmented past. Basically, this painting narrates his sunless journey on his once sinful past towards his spiritually inspired present. The tree symbolizes the supreme embodiment of lies and promises, aiming to shroud our thoughts against the mind's focus of walking towards the rightful path of living. It feeds our frangible hearts, causing us to move in a delusive trance of repetitive circles instead of finding the way out. Note that the prisoners of the labyrinth are depicted in a pale, saturated color, suggesting the notion that once you reside in the dark, execrable world of sin, you're actually not alive, but dead. Not the literal death, of course, but of its allegorical counterpart. It is also noticeable that the dark tree is surrounded by hungry, brooding vultures, waiting to feast down on the fresh meat of its unsuspecting victims. The reason behind the rendition of the artist's image in this masterpiece is that he wants to emphasize that he is also a man, imperfect and susceptible to carnal temptations and inevitable mistakes of endless human exigencies. He did not create this repetitive portrait because he is proud of his once sinful actions. Indeed, he did it this time in order to ventilate his soul and reach out beneath the fleshly barriers of his human audiences. He wants to inspire them the way he was inspired during his spiritual battle with his ever waking intrinsic demons. And as much as possible, to turn the once wrong paths towards the right...to rekindle the God loving soul that was once and shall ever be.
