Leendert, Portrait of a Dutch Dentist (2008)

This is a portrait of Nelly Van Nieuwenhuijzen's son, Leendert. He is wearing special glasses for dentists. This was a fun project and a great compliment to me as an artist. Dank u wel, Nelly, Leendert.

You have given us the "patients-eye view" of the dentist, David! The syringe and mirror are too close for comfort... especially since I am due to get a crown!!! A wonderful halo surrounds the sensitive face of Nelly's son Leendart! Delightful.....

Fantastic Portrait! Really like the "halo" of tulips & molars. What a wonderful tribute! You are one of my most favorite artists on AW!

Your work is just totally unique Dave! What a great composition and portraiture of Nelly's son. Leendert will be so delighted, I'm sure. BRAVO! --Love and Light~Olga

Oh I love this one! How clever of you David. I love the angle of the hands. Great foreshortening. I like the way you've painted the special glasses and the tulips (from Amsterdam!) twinned with molars!!!! Brilliant artwork!
