From this little harbour Maximilian von Habsburg and his wife Charlotte sailed to meet their tragic destiny in Mexico. The sphynx on the pier is egyptian. At the time collections of greek or egyptian antiquities was very fashionable among the ones who could afford it :) Plein air artwork. Oil pastels on brown package paper. 30*40 cm.
