Sea of Sadness

Friday aug 8th, I went in for surgery on my spine. After 2 days of morphine drips, I was well enough to place my feet on the ground, there were more swears then steps, I took 4 steps but continued to swear even after they went home for the day. After that I got switched to pain pills. The next day they came again to hear me swear, I being the nice guy, I swore with each step up and down the hallway. I guess they wanted to hear more when they brought me to the stairs, I gave them no such pleasure and no stairs. I instead went back to draw, I thought about how I was feeling and where I was, the sign on my wall that said "Danbury Hospital" help with that question, as for the first if I didn't move or breath I was fine. I could hear all the patients and family member, with thier pain and sadness. Sometimes there were moments of happiness, these came from my visitors and from the RN's and Assistant Nurses that came to see me, always with a smile. So when I started to draw I thought, "It takes a special person to work in a sea of sadness". So this is the sketch I made for them, had framed and gave them ,along with a hug, when I went home monday the 12. Its good to be home but I will miss all thier care. Color version for here and for them to come soon. It took me till monday to defeat the stairs. It was a very hard fight.
