You will never guess what amazing gift I received at Christmas from my hubby Tim.This exact painting done by none other then my dear friend and amazing talented artist Sheryl.I couldn't believe it when I was presented with this wonderful gift.It was no doubt my fav gift not only because we live in Palmerston and close to the railroad yards but because I know the artist personally and was involved one way or another while she was creating some of her works of art.I will cherish my friend and my art work always...

When I was a child living in Detroit we had a summer cottage on the south shore of Lake St. Claire in Belle River Ontario. The mainline of the Canadian National and the Wabash R.R.s between Windsor and Toronto ran behind our house. We had heard of Palmerston and its railroad yard where we lived and it was one of those magical and mythical places that existed in that great big world of trains. This painting brings back fond memories of those great clanking steel behemoths spreading their coal smoke along the lake like perfumed incense as they passed our house. The warm nut-like aroma of the smoke is one of my fondest memories of my childhood.

Artist Reply: It's funny what people think sometimes. I tell people that it took 6 mo's of planning...and 3 mo's to paint..and the response is always the same.." but not full time!?" and i always say:...wellllll it depends on what you mean...I get up at 5-6 and before I even make my coffee I start dabbing at my paints..and during the day, in between meals simmering and kids crying, I am dabbing at the canvas...and at night while everyone is sleeping, til 2-3 in the morning, I might be dabbing at my canvas again. so I guess it all depends on "full-time" means..lol
