Bohemian Rhapsody

A Bohemian Waxwing. As the name suggests, the wingtips and tailtip appear to have been dipped in wax. It is suspected that the color comes from the pigments of the berries they eat. In courtship the male will hop towards a female and offer her a berry, she will take it and hop away, then she hops back towards the male to offer him the berry in return. Taken at Hayward Lake, Mission, B.C.

A truly magnificent photographic artwork. Excellent composition, technique, and depth of field. And the subject is very fine.

Artist Reply: Lynn, Thank you so much for your wonderful compliments. Normally I would have to hike high up in the mountains to see this fella, I got lucky and found him at a lake close by.
