This is one of the two finished illustrations for the fairy tale: "Bluebeard" by Charles Perrault ( original title:"La Barbe Bleue" but I am Dutch, so for me it is called: "Blauwbaard" ) This image is too small for the text to be readable, but this is the explination of the Dutch text: "She was so overcome with curiosity was she that, without reflecting upon the discourtesy of leaving her guests, she ran down a staircase, so precipitately that twice or thrice she nearly broke her neck."
