(c)2008 Yes,...this is the real Underdog! My own attempt to reproduce the cartoon character I watched so much as a kid. My second favorite hero to Popeye but my all time number one favorite of super heros. Wally Cox supplied the voice. He himself was very much as a real life underdog type guy. Mild mannered,...but when evil was present became indignant to it,...righteously indignant. Underdog was and is a perfect example of the personality of a hero. Very peaceful and peacable to be around,...but when someone's in trouble, he is not slow, it up, up ,up and away he goes! Especially if it's his girlfriend Polly in trouble. And I loved how he always spoke in ryhme. Let's see if I can still remember the theme song,...(ok,...I cheated and here it is from a website. hehehe) There's no need to fear! Underdog is here! when criminals in this world appear and break the laws that they should fear and frighten all who see or hear the cry goes up both far and near for Underdog! Underdog! Underdog! Underdog! speed of lightning, roar of thunder fighting all who rob or plunder Underdog. Underdog! when in this world the headlines read of those whose hearts are filled with greed who rob and steal from those who need,...(SOUNDS LIKE THE THE OIL COMPANIES!!! HEHEHE),... to right this wrong with blinding speed goes Underdog! Underdog! Underdog! Underdog! speed of lightning, roar of thunder fighting all who rob or plunder Underdog. Underdog! ....isn't that a neat theme song? :O) But there was a controversy about Underdog taking a super energy pill when he got weak. Network execs thought he looked like he was taking drugs,...so all scenes of Underdog going for his super energy pill in his ring were removed, edited,...out of all Underdog cartoons. Gee,...how stupid,...they could have just changed the word energy to vitamin. Which with todays crap they call food,...and our crops being farmed on overused, depleated soil,...taking vitamins is a good example for extra energy. Just like Popeye with his spinach,...Underdog set a good example of how to behave in society, humble,...but in the face of evil,...brave and courageous.
