Autumn Garden

This is a digital painting I did of a lovely Autumn garden. This is a painting, not a photo manipulation or photo shopped work. I painted every stroke starting with a blank canvas. I used an electronic drawing tablet, my Wacom tablet & wireless stylus pen that hooks up to the computer. The pen is used instead of a mouse. I used art software, my favorite Corel's Painter X which allows me to pick the mediums, colors, transparency, size of strokes, and more. I used a combination of mediums for this one, Air brush, mixed with pastels and chalks, I blended them, then added a coarse oily brush mixer to get this look and brush texture. That means I actually painted three times to get the result I have. This is not a auto convert from a photo to art work. While I do know how to do that, I enjoy doing it myself. I know it's hard to see brush strokes on the image size that posts, so I included a close up so you can see the details better. I hope you enjoy this one. I've been experimenting with brushes and mixing mediums again. The fun part for me is discovering the results of using mediums that with real ones would not be possible to use, but you can with digital art.

Fantastic shots, Terry!

Artist Reply: Thanks Anne! I enjoy painting flower garden scenes like these. They take me longer to do with all the details and muliple subjects. I was trying to figure out how to add some depth to the composition, so painted less details on the background flowers. The bee was easiest to paint, I used a lovely coarse oily brush that had just the right texture to do his body a more realistic look.

LOVELY FLOWERS, AWESOME BEE MACRO!

Artist Reply: Thank you Emily! The bee was the easiest thing for me to draw and paint. I see to be able to do them better than my flowers. LOL!
