This painting is from the collection of Steven Bechtel. It was completed eight years prior to the Vallejo Street Wharf painting ca. 1863. This painting depicts the great diversity of maritime craft. From the tall ships, and small schooner scows to the side wheel paddle steamers like the Tehama and the Persepolis which plied the waters of San Francisco Bay and the interior ports of Stockton and Sacramento.
