My latest handmade tag bookmark. This one features Ms. Josephine Baker! Josephine Baker grew up in the slums of St. Louis, but became a dancer and singer, moved to Paris were she became all the rage of the roaring 20's, including performing with the Ziegfeld Follies. She caused quite a stir strolling down the streets with her pet leopard "Chiquita", she also served with the french Red Cross in World War II, fought for civil rights, and adopted 12 children from all over the world, who she lovingly referred to as her "rainbow tribe". Josephine did so much in her lifetime, - a fabulous entertainer, and a tireless fighter for important causes and rights, and of course, Josephine was also known for her famous trademark skirt made out of bananas!

This bookmark, not including the tassle at the top (which I cropped out a lot at the top in this photo so you can see the actual design better and closer)is approx. 3x5 and 1/2 inches in size.

I made this for a friend who also admires Josephine Baker - and I hope she likes it when I give it to her! and I hope you all enjoy it as i share it here!

Hello Jane! How are you? This is a fabulous piece. What a brilliant concept! I love the colours and the theme. I saw an interview by Josephine Baker's daughter in 'Paris Match' the French magazine a little while ago. Josephine was a fascinating woman. This is a delightful reminder of her exoticism. Brilliant!
Artist Reply:   Thanks so very much Rusty for your sweet comment. i worked really hard on this bookmark, so your feedback is greatly apprecaited. Josephine was indeed such a fascinating woman. I greatly admire her!
