Summerland 2004 #2

You find many shelters stratigically placed along the Wonderland Trail that travels around the mountain. We have hiked many pieces of this 93 mile trail and run into these shelters once in a while. The different thing in this shelter is the Bear Log (yellow notebook). People discribe their encounters with bear for others to be aware. There were no bad encounters listed and some were very humorous. On this day we did see a momma with her two cubs in the underbrush about 50 ft. off trail. However she was more interested in eating berries than hikers. It was fun to watch the cubs wrestling in the brush. Wish they were out in the open to get a good shot. This is also the place that I got the "chipmunks in the pack" shot.

So impressive, Mary, that I am going to build a "mini" just like this one, for my garden! I am an amateur mason, who can't seem to collect enough pictures of "rock things."
