The Prisoner

This little guy was a prisoner in a Chinese prison back in the late 1800's. I saw a picture of him and some others in my Dad's old National Geographic. I was living 60 miles from nowhere up in Wyoming in our old trailer. I spent a lot of time drawing then and was really captivated by the plight of this prisoner. His face, the anguish and pain and suffering really made me think about how terrible human beings can be to one another. I lost the original drawing long ago, but found a copy from my old website in a ancient file on my computer. Unfortunately, it is very small and lossied up so I had to really struggle to color the drawing and make it look presentable. In the end, I still like the pencil drawing better even if it is tiny.

I love both the color and sepia etching of this exceptional piece. I can feel the emotions of the prisioner, the pain and anguish on his face. I too wonder how human beings can be so cruel causing so much human suffering. Your works is very creative and unusual.
