A women's face

Oil on canvas 20 x 24 I based the painting on a picture of an Iraqi women who was in a hospital. US military had just pumped her 3 year old child with shrapnel and she just learned he was dead. The actual picture was so heart wrenching, that I could not bring myself to paint her as she really was.She also had wounds and a bandage across her forehead. Personally, I do not think that a 3 year old child was a threat to anyone. War IS hell, especially when our gov. lies about why it felt it had to start this one. Many innocent lives lost on all sides, and for what?OIL and private contractors? Yeah ,The effects of War IS out of "perspective" in terms of our gov. and mainstream media...and I think that is so extremely saaaaaad. Sold Prints available upon request.

It's a powerful portrait, and a powerful statement. One wonders if humanity will ever grasp the concept of peace in its entirety ~

this is better when viewed in person because you can feel her youth not age so much more and with it, of course, feel better how long her loss will be
