I started this painting in the heat of summer and this summer was a one like no other for many reasons. I didn't like parts of it and set it aside. I worked on it this week and am satisfied that the title fits and the piece now works. This is a 16 by 12 by 1.5 inch acrylic painting on gallery-wrapped canvas. If this isn't Original Jones Art, I'm afraid I don't know what is here in Austin, Texas. Addendum: This piece was chosen to hang in the 2019 Summer Show at Austin ArtSpace Gallery.

THE CLOUD IS UP...SO HOPE IS STILL A OBJECT

Artist Reply: Well, I hope you know what you're talking about, Elton, but I'll not object to your comment. Clouds not up are usually referred to as fog which is what a lot of folks seem to be in nowadays. Hope you are doing great, BTW. :)

The colors are beautiful.

Artist Reply: I had basically a chromium oxide green land mass below 'the purple mountains majesty' and let it sit for several months. After looking at the piece again, I changed it to some nice hot/bright colors which, in turn, made the figure look that much cooler and more serene. Thanks for the comment, John, and I hope you are doing fine. :)

Beautiful colors , they give the spectator a healing smile. And your character seems to love them too. A nice spiritual one Charles!

Artist Reply: I sometimes wish I could get into the head of 'the spectator' but if I did, I'd no longer be 'the artist' in some meaningful way, Erik. That said, not all my pieces are salvageable but a failed experiment is still a learning experience, I think. I know you are learning too when I view your newest pieces. :)
