Elephant:The Angry One

This is an oil painting on canvas.Size 610mm x 920mm.Prints size 419mm x 595mm available @ $250 each, postage included. These are Limited Edition Prints numbered individualy out of only 500 prints and signed by the artist. This Elephant Painting shows the animal as The Angry One,UyiZulu, symbolised by the thunder of the skies. The hunt is unfairly done by somebody actually fearing the elephant's strength. It is murdered by hunters, people of modern days.Shown in the picture is the modern day hunter, not knowing whom they kill or destroy. It also shows elephants trumpeting, heralding the birth of the world or the dawning of a new day.The people ploughing are symbolically related to the elephant tusks that are ploughs. It also shows the grey ghosts of the forefathers who have been murdered by the thief of living things, shouting at the land that no longer cares about living things. The grey ghosts are emerging from the dungeons of the Nether World because they are unhappy with the unnecessary killing. The underground dungeons are symbolised as an umbilical cord that extends towards present life and thereby confirms the relation between life and death. The stars from which the elephant demands justice are also shown. It also shows the Great Marula tree that the elephant caused to fall. The Mighty Boabab tree that could be pierced by anger by the elephant tusks. This painting formed part of an Exhibition of Living Symbols by Credo Mutwa,African Artist,Sculptor and Songwriter with Fred Rousseau,Ethnic and Wildlife Artist. The Exhibition launched in Johannesburg,South Africa and travelled worldwide.
