This colored pencil painting is based on a photograph I took in a music shop of a display featuring an antique bango and an instruction guide of how to play the instrument. Although I do not play an instrument myself, I admire those who do. I also recognize that many people who have musical talent did not take formal lessons and are basically self taught. This also applies to many two dimensional fine artists, including myself. This piece spoke to me and serves as an illustration of the importance of continual practice and dedication to improving our art. This piece is entitled "Self Taught" and was done on Grafix drafting film using Farber-Castell Polychromos pencils. The size of the artwork is 18 X 12 inches.
