This is a colored pencil painting based on a photograph that I took two years ago on a coastal beach in the state of Oregon. The scene is real, but the man in the foreground and the dog that can be seen in the distance are the result of artistic license. They serve as focal points that help lead the eye of the viewer deeper into the painting. They also inspired the title of this piece, which is "Friends on a Beach". The piece was done on matte surfaced Dura-lar polyester film using Farber-Castell Polychromos pencils. Its size is 8 inches X 12 inches. Although this particular scene reflects an Oregon beach, you can see friends like these on virtually any coastal beach here in the U.S.A. Enjoy the beach and your friends.
