This is a colored pencil painting based on a photograph that I took in a small coffee shop. We were on a trip this past summer. I was drawn to how the lamp light played with the brick wall. I was prompted to do this painting after taking a trip to the northwest earlier this fall. There was lots of coffee to be had in that area, but none at the price shown in the painting! I hope that this piece takes you back to a time past when coffee actually was this reasonably priced. Hava a cup on me. This piece is 8 inches X 12 inches and was done on Dura-lar polyester film. Prismacolor Verithin pencil were used.

Fabulous image ! Really Love it !

Artist Reply: John: thanks so very much! I love coffee and when I saw this scene in a little coffee shop that we visited, I knew that I had to turn the scene into a painting. I'm glad that you too like it. Best regards, Will

Love the composition!

Artist Reply: Joan: thanks so much for the comment! I love coffee and this little coffee shop. The decore was so cool and this scene was part of that decore. The stacked cup were as the shop had them, but I added the "Bottomless Cup" sign, wishing that indeed the coffee still was $.05 a cup! Best regards, Will
Artist Reply: Joan: thanks so much for your comment! I love coffee and coffee shops. This one was very nice and I really liked the decore. It just had to be the subject of a painting. The stacked cups were as the shop had them, but I added the "Bottomless Cup" sign. I only wish that the coffee had been priced at $.05 per cup! Best regards, Will

I love the coloring in this! The brown cup and the orange cup and the contrast of the top cup with the lighter yellow brick wall! I also am a huge cafe guy so this speaks to me on the sentimental level also!

Artist Reply: Daniel: thank you so very much for your generous comments. They are much appreciated. I too am a lover of coffee and coffee establishments. I can spend lots of time at such places, especially if books are available. By the way, I looked at your portfolio and find it very impressive. Your are quite talented. I notice that you list your pieces as being mixed media. I was wondering what media you actually use? Just curious. Your portraits are very expressive what ever media you use to create them. Congratulatons and thank you again. Best regards, Will

well done

Artist Reply: Darlene: thank you very much. I'm a coffee lover and when I came upon this lamp in a coffee shop, I had to snap a photo to later turn into this piece. Have a good day. Will

What a wonderful, amazing and incredibly detailed piece that looks like you are sitting at the table with the wild coffee/teacup table lamp! I love this one, it is a master piece,...plus I love my coffee!!

Artist Reply: Mark: thanks so much for you very nice comments. I'm glad that you're a coffee lover, as I certainly am as well. This still life actually lives in a small coffee shop. I was there to get my needed coffee when I saw it. I especially liked it because my wife does not drink coffee, but is a tea drinker. I had to do a piece based on this still life. I also really liked how the light from the lamp plays with the brick wall crreating some interesting shadows. I'm glad that it spoke to you also. Best regards and I hope that you have a very happy holiday season. Will
