Magic Rays

As a nature artist I have always been intrigued and fascinated by the magic of the setting sun. Although “Magic Rays” is more of a compilation of memories from past experiences, My most vivid recollections come from my visits to the Hawaiian Islands. Not sure why, but I seem to remember reading something about it having to do with the direction of the trade winds, the clouds losing their moister over the mountains and the clean air over the ocean. Volcanic ash at high altitudes also figures in there somewhere. I think this painting is a good example of how beautiful sunsets can be experienced almost anywhere. Why are sunsets magical for me? You never know what to expect; each is unique and exciting. For about thirty minutes you are treated to a show of light, shapes and colors that increases in intensity to it’s peak of brilliance and then begins to fade and slowly descend into darkness. The perfect compliment to the patio or terrace dining experience with someone special.
