Gregory Byrd and Leroy Brown (2002)

Gregory Byrd died of random gunshot wounds received as he tried to get children off the streets of Alexandria, Louisiana during a drug shoot out. Leroy Brown was assasinated so he could not testify in a New York drug trial. Both died martyrs and the receive the palms of the martyrs (according to Catholic iconography). I donated this work to the Alexandria Courthouse where it hangs in the juvenile court.

Hello David and Nicole! Hope you're both OK. Just a quick trawl to see what I've missed, and lo and behold........ This is a very sad story. They both have a very beatific expressions on their faces. Such brutality. This is not the answer to society's problems! Where does it end, when we see on our TVs here in the UK, grainy video film of Louisiana policemen beating up an African American of 64 years and trying to stop the cameras fiming it. A very dignified portrait!

You chose such beautiful colors for the portrait of two wonderful people. Very sad and common story, I am sorry to say. You are a very good man David.
