Study of Remington

©Seth F. Weaver,Sr. 05/01/12. This is a mixed media painting on canvas. I did this for a recent art competition. It is one of my favorite Frederic Remington paintings “The Stampede by Lightning” (1908). In his great impressionist way he tells the visual story of a lightning bolt in a thunderstorm that cause a herd of longhorns to start running. A lone rider at the point tries to turn the herd and stop it. I WEAVERized Remington’s work by doing this in acrylic, gouache, and sand on a stretched canvas. He’s probably real mad at me right now.
