Joanna at Arlington

This is my granddaughter, Joanna, placing the wreath on the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier at Arlington National Cemetery. Joanna was the winner of the writing competition on “Why I Want to Lay the Wreath on the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier”. She won for all the schools in her district and her prize was to place the wreath on the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier when her class visited Washington DC and Arlington National Cemetery. The class trip was last week. I do not know who the young man is; perhaps 2nd place. Joanna’s great grandfather and great great grandfather are both buried at Arlington. They were both graduates of West Point Military Academy and her mother, my daughter Tracy, got an appointment to West Point but turned it down. I did not take these photos; they were sent to me. In the second one, I combined 2 photos. I hope you enjoy!
