Artist Reply: Thank you for the compliment , Christine. The portrait was painted a few years ago from a small picture in the Nat. Geogr. Magazine and the depicts a fourteen year old Afghan fugitive girl. She was afraid of the photographer. Your appreciation has given me the courage to send in another portrait of the same girl. The picture is bad because I put on varnish before taking a photograph.
