Heceta Head Lighthouse

"From a vantage point on the top of a headland overlooking the Pacific, the Heceta Head Lighthouse beams it's spectacular first order Fresnel lens twenty one miles to sea from an elevation of 205 feet. It is one of America's most beautiful and most photographed lighthouses."

Artist Comment: "The Heceta Head Lighthouse is said to be the most photographed lighthouse on the Oregon coast. It is a favorite of mine, and I have painted it many times in various media. This view is from a slippery cliff above the tower, looking southwest (although it is not advisable for anyone to climb the dangerous cliff). I chose to zoom in on the light and part of the tower with the ocean in the background. The bright white of the building, had been tempered by the rust stains making the lighthouse look vulnerable while steadfastedly continuing to light the way for mariners many miles out at sea."
