Ship Locks on the Rhone River

As we made our trip north on the Rhone River, we travelled through 16 locks. Each one lifted the ship to a higher level, varying from 9.5 feet to 72 feet above the previous level. Each of these locks is used for hydroelectric power in addition to ship transit. It is both a simple (in concept) and an amazing process. The top photo was taken entering a lock, the bottom photo shows us exiting a lock. Taken on the Rhone River, France - 2009 Canon Rebel XT Copyright: Photographer Laurel Talabere

Hi there, I'm happy to be able to sign your guestbook, great web page :). Now there was a minor complication by which your navigation menu flickered in Opera 3, it seems to perform great within Internet Explorer 8 thought. Basically assumed you actually will probably want to be aware
