Stone houses in Vaudenoux/Ardèche

Pastel & Ink on Sugar paper 30 x 40. Signed 1994. The small village of Vaudanoux in the Val d'Ibie has changed since I painted this picture. The buildings are obscured by trees and the windows boast new frames and shutters. Greek-Roman remains date back to VI AD in the form of pottery and ornaments. The village is typical of the Ardèche region of France.

Great perspective and a real sense of the rustic and ancient buildings of this region. The hint of colour works very well with the pen and ink. Lovely work!

Marvellous pen and ink drawing, I love the touch of colours and the beautiful shading.
