Canyons of Light

The Harakeke weave symbolises a mountain range. The myriad of yawning chasms and passes which may be found within are represented, not only through the exposed lineal and criss-crossed print, but also subtly through the collage overlay of the tissue onto which the mountains have been printed. The Toetoe plumes complete the symbolism of the play of light through the mountains, via their obvious tones. © 2009 Susan Haywood Smith
