Interwoven Destiny

Man exists because of nature’s capacity to provide for all things. Aboriginal peoples of the world have especially understood this synergy with nature across the ages. Harakeke (flax) was an example of mans' dependance upon nature. Harakeke was used for both decorative art forms and functionality in Maori society. It was traditionally woven to make kete (bags), piupiu (skirts) as well as many other practical uses. Harakeke played an integral role to Maori survival.
