I used to live much like that, on an old farm, with chickens, pigs and cows, as a child. I still miss having chickens around. This is a lovely painting, Anneke!

one of those portraits that one can look at and tries to immidiately in what toen they use to live that they where there!

Artist Reply: This one was just for fun, but they really lived like that back then, wooden shoes and all. Even children had to work on the small farms.

Nice illustration. The folk song (and chorus) are a night touch. My Dutch is so minimal, I could not understand a word. Such a pity. It must be a fun story, because it's a fun painting.

Very good work, Anneke. It took me a while to figure why other could hear music and i could not. But finally i managed and this is why im rewriting this comment :) I must say the song definitely adds atmosphere and is a great touch :) I love it! (song and picture i mean) :)
