This is an oil painting done on a tissued ground on canvas. The textured area is only under the grasses..the painting of the grasses was done by picking out with a palette knife after several colors and glazes had been laid down.. additional glazes were added,, and more scratching done until I called it "done".. hahah.. I'm pretty happy with this experiment on the textured ground. I will use it on more paintings for textural interest and it acually suits the landscapes here in South Carolina.. size is approximately 24" x 26" gallery wrapped and painted sides in charleston green (dark)..

This quality of result can only be achieved when someone is really good: WHICH IS THE CASE AS YOU CERTAINLY ARE!Super painting, I love it! XXXX AnaDavid Holcombe 29 Sep 2008
This reminds me a bit of Nelly's landscapes, part abstract and part naturalistic. The brush strokes in the foreground are wonderful, powerful and bold. The yellows contrast nicely with the brilliant blue. Rhea Gary, a Baton Rouge artist, does the same for Louisiana. You might want to check out her site.Heather Leigh Douglas 29 Sep 2008
Interesting technique - it really does work well with the grasses. Best of luck ~Olga van Dijk 29 Sep 2008
