Forest Fire

The force of nature.

I see in the comments, there are quite some people talking about the texture on this painting. Let me tell you how it got there. I used a rolling pin (I couldn't find my paint roller!! LOL) to add the paint to the canvas. I had no idea that it would have this effect.
So if you want it too, you know what to do!! :)

On your third page of works i love this the most. Second would be "Desert Dwellers." I have no real vivid expression, I am just drawn to this piece. Very much. You are a rara avis my friend. Thank you for all your works. They are truly gifts.

Artist Reply: On this whole painting everything was actually all accidentally, weird how it comes out sometimes. As you may have noticed I'm not a real abstract painter, so I'm often surprised myself. :) I'm really glad you like it and added your beautiful words on my board, Daniel. Thank you so much!

José GomesPereira 08 Apr 2009

What can I say about this painting, considering that things do not "just happen"? No! this is really a great moment of luminosity, done by someone that knows what she wants and...the rest is only inspiration, technic and sensibility.

Artist Reply: Dear Robert, thank you very much for your wonderful words!

Cody Card 27 Mar 2009

well, i am glad you explained the texture, it is neat to learn something each day... might i make a suggestion? i love the colors, and the expressionisticness of this image, it gives me a feeling of an autumn evening before fall... if you did another painting using blues and the rolling pin, you'd have a gorgeous complimentary winter peice... just a thought... keep up the beautiful work :)

Artist Reply: Dear Cody, thank you so much for your great suggestion. I think you are right! But I wonder if I could ever make such a painting again, it's actually one big accident, everything just happened. :)) Thank you for your thoughtful words, I appreciate them a lot!

cynthia berridge 04 Nov 2008

WHAT A GREAT IDEA to get your paint on the canvas, dear Anneke. Great effect of Lights and Darks.... It's a beauty... --Love & Light~OLGA

a.f. reinhart 10 Aug 2008

Anneke, what a terrific bold image!! It almost has the look of a batik! Quite lovely, I enjoy the depth you have created in your trees. There is an intense struggle between the background and foreground which seems to contribute to the nature of the fire. Well done.

Artist Reply: Hi Angela, you are right, the struggle is caused by raindrops that fell on the painting. The upper half got washed. :) But it was a happy coincidence. Thank you for your beautiful comment, my friend in art.

Nira Dabush 10 Aug 2008

STUNNING ABSTRACT, ANNEKE... INDEED THE COLOURS OF FIRE.. The title fits wondefully.

very nice done Anneke! What kind of person is there in front, down on the painting? I love this unique work!

Artist Reply: Yes, I saw the 'person' too! It's funny, isn't it? It came there by accident. This whole painting is an 'accident' LOL. The texture is caused by a rolling pin that I used to put the paint on the canvas. Sometimes unexpected things happen :D. Thank you very much for your wonderful comment, Annette!

Greg Vilton 09 Aug 2008

The effects in the sky look like what you can get by putting salt on watercolours. It's very beautiful and dramatic!

Artist Reply: It's not salt. I've used a rolling pin to bring the paint on and it has been raining on it when it was laying on my balcony to 'dry'! LOL So I was surprised myself what came out of it. Thanks for stopping by and leaving your wonderful comment, Greg!
