Sacre Coeur de Grand Coteau and Paris (2008)

This image has two sets of Sacre Coeur (Sacred Hearts). The one is the Sacre Coeur de Grand Coteau in Louisiana, the other is the Sacre Coeur de Paris. You see the image of the Virgin Mary on the left and one of the founding nuns of Sacre Coeur de Grand Coteau on the right. The latter was a prominent girls schools from the colonial period, which still continues to function. I'm not really sure why I wanted to paint this complicated image, but here it is.

Hello David and Nicole! How are you? Bearing up under those sun-laden Lousiana skies I hope. I agree with Nira about this painting, it seems to be your destiny. That does sound rather dramatic but I think that's the right word. This detailed and fascinating painting is a true expression of committment to your faith and is all the more profound for that. As with all your paintings, the meaning and magic is in the symbolism and the jewel-like colours. I like the 'Sacred Heart' ringed with the crown of thorns as a protective gesture. I had to smile when this painting downloaded and I saw the Sacre Coeur. On Monday my son, Aramis, proposed to his fiancee on the steps of the great cathedral in front of everyone and was given a round of applause when she said 'yes'! Anyway, brilliant artwork! Love it!
