San Pedro By Starlight: Los Angeles Harbor ca 1913

I painted this 30"x40" watercolor in 1994. This scene is of San Pedro Harbor in 1913 during its great period of expansion into a major Pacific Rim seaport six years after the City of San Pedro was annexed by the City of Los Angeles The Southern Pacific station was the debarkation point for the Los Angeles Basin. The station was demolished to make room the the Terminal Island Ferry, and is no the site of the Los Angeles Maritime Museum. This area of Los Angeles Harbor was a favorite place for Hollywood Studios for location shooting.

A marvelous work, Stanton... every bit of it is interesting history, and the water is just scintillating! -And to think that it was done in watercolor just boggles the mind!
