The Darling Starling

These little fellows are very common, I believe pretty much all over the world. The Starling. They come in packs and will empty a feeder in a matter of hours. What I do love about them is the color of the plumage. Tiny little white chevrons speckle the underbelly. The back is almost that of an oil spill. These are only temporary tho, in the spring the colors will change to a creamy brown with bits of dark browns and black. I think they change as they do because the darker colored plumage would absorb heat in the winter, whereas the lighter colors would be cooler in the summer months. Taken in Mission, B.C. Nikon D40x 55-200 mm set on 200mm.
