Oktoberfest

This sleeping man used to be a regular on River Street in Savannah. I photographed him sleeping while others were enjoying all of the food and festivities for Oktoberfest--an annual affair. He was just an interesting subject until I was using my magnifier before making a print in the darkroom. When I passed over his wedding ring, I suddenly realized, "This man belongs to somebody somewhere. I wonder if they know or care where he is." This case would describe a lot of seemingly homeless people in downtown Savannah. A sad figure during a festive occasion. Oil on canvas. Copyright 2007 Dell Belew
