Fossil

About the photo:  This fossil was an absolute beauty when I saw it.  I literally wanted to chisel it out of the mega-ton rock.  Stunning!  I captured this photo and made my magic with many different layering and elements.

I just love how it turned out and the beautiful textures still look preserved.  Amazing!  This was once a life form, breathing, living and coexisting.  If only this little fossil could tell a story from the time it came from.

Result: A stunning masterpiece.  This is one of my favourites in my own gallery.

hi janette. you know this looks like a cross section of a bone.where all the little rings are would be the marrow. i have several small(about the size of a clementine) specimens out in my garden thanks to many trips up to georgian bay as a kid and a very strong pack-ratting instinct. they're just incredibly facinating. love the colour effects you've done with it. have you ever seen the red or orange lichen that grows on these baby's? it has a very similar effect.

Artist Reply: Hello Sheila, thank you for your lovely comment. I do love these and am simply fascinated by rocks and fossils and have collected many over the years. I have not see the red lichen that you speak of, but I'm sure it adds cool effect. Perhaps I've seen it through a vision, and that's how I created this. thank you again dear friend!
