wow, and I drew one of him in the same pose about ten years ago. what a coincidence

Artist Reply: Thanks Walt. I drew him for black history month last year. I put the portrait with his "I had a dream" speech. It's posted at the school I work at.

There's quite a difference between this portrait and many of your others. In this one you have relied on shapes rather than lines to create the likeness which makes this look a lot more realistic. The others are very good stylistically, but for realism this one really succeeds.

As I've grown older,I've realized that this guy is the only one who said it right.In all races I've seen the wrong role models be respected,but Dr.King really was a great man.I wish we could say that about everyone in our world.Nicely captured look of innocence,Penny!On a technical point...what pencil do you use to reach that skin tone?Is it the way you touched it up?
