Metal Study - Spoon

this drawing was incredibly hard for me. i found that i could only work on it for about one hour at a time because after that, i tended to want to stab myself in the face. but i made it. i'm not really pleased with it. i think i did well on the handle, but the eating end....and thats supposed to be the easy part, right? whatever. anyhow, i've done my first real drawing of metal, go me. let me know what you think and/or the magic trick for metal, hehe. pencil (2H-B), maybe...4 or 5 hours? i'm thinking about doing an escher kind of thing--the self portrait in the spoon. maybe.

Good drawing and contrast. You really looked hard at this, I can tell... and the observation you put into it, will help you in looking hard at future subjects! The more you draw and the more you really look, the better artist you will become.Nice job!!

For a first time...I think you've done a fantastic job...so much fine detail capturee and great shading.....it is amazing how much practise helps one improve!!!

Metals and reflections are indeed one of the biggest challenges presented for most artists. You did a fine job and I'm betting that now that you are done, the next one would be much easier as you learned a great deal in the process of creating this one? The spoon end could use a bit more work but you'll get there. Practice makes perfect. Give it stab (no pun intended) and see if you find it easier the next time around.
