I Can See Clearly Now

Today is my favourite Uncle, Thomas C. McDonald's birthday.. (Happy birthday, Uncle Tom~!!)Instead of the song lyrics, I am putting down information about this special car..:-)

Original photo was taken in Salinas CA, September 11, 1955. Tom McDonald's '37Chevy/GMC 6 coupe on its departure in the trophy winning final drag race.
Speed: 91.20 MPH. Elapsed time:15.70 seconds.

Here's the technical info on the '37 Chevy GMC:

* Converted GMC 270 6 cylinder truck engine
* 292 cubic inches, J.E. pistons, 10:1 compression ratio
* Chet Herbert #280 roller tappet camshaft
* Wayne 3 carb manifold (Stromberg 48's), custom exhaust headers
* Scintilla Vertex Magneto ignition (Joe Hunt conversion), Lodge spark plugs
* Chopped flywheel with Schaeffer dual disc clutch assembly
* 1937 Packard 3 speed transmission with adapters
* 1939 Ford rear end, suspension and cross member. 4:11 to 1 ratio
* Tires: 8.20 x 15 slicks rear, 6.00 x 16 full tread front
* Moon 3 gallon fuel tank (gas only), hand pressure pump (4 psi)
* Instrumentation: Tachometer, Oil Pressure, Fuel Pressure only
