Meet Mdm. C.J. Walker aka Sarah Breedlove. Born in abject poverty, orphaned, and married when still a child of 13, and became a mother shortly thereafter. She moved to St. Louis, Mo, to be near her brothers, who were barbers. Newly widowed, working more than one job, raising a child, her hair began to fall out from stress. She said in a vision, while sleeping, ingredients for a mixture to stave off hair fall out, came to her. She mixed them marketed them, and became the first self-made female millionare in the U.S.A. of any race. She opened a hair and skin care college called The Poro College, which my own mother attended. So, you see, not Oprah, nor any other financially independent woman set the precedent for female millionares. Mrs. Walker set that distinction, long ago. Read about her. Most people don't even realize she existed.

Lovely work Cezanne! Her story is fascinating and I will be sending it on to my daughter, her major was Womens History and she would like to hear her tale. Thankd you for all the wonderful background information you so often include.
