Metropolitan Convertible

Built from 1953-1960 by Austin Division of British Motor Corporation at Longbridge, Birmingham, the Metropolitan was sold in North America by Nash, then Hudson and American Motors. The "Met" was offered as a 2-door convertible and 2-door hardtop. It was of unitized body construction with a wheelbase of 85", length of 149", width of 61", and height of 54". The Austin engine used in the early models produced 42 hp while the 1500 Series introduced in 1956 had 52 hp. The suggested price in the mid 1950s was $1,469 for the convertible and $1,445 for the hardtop, 94,986 Metropolitans were sold.
