"he rebarb, she rebarb, me rebarb " . This photograph is of rebarb, steel rods used to enforce cement. . NOw here is the story...Do you recall your school days and your history lessons...You may have learned from one of those classes that until the present age the greatest distance a man could travel in a single day was 30 miles...By horseback or charriot, or in the case of some well conditioned warriors- on foot..still by whatever conveyance--THIRTY MILES WAS TOPS!
The Romans led the way for the mass transit of today...Their building programs with their invention of cement became the forerunner of our modern highway system....NOW WE CAN TRAVEL HUNDREDS OF MILES A DAY...(THOUSANDS BY AIR, BUT THATS ANOTHER STORY) ..
(c) 1985 Elton Houck...
SO IT ALL COMES DOWN TO CONCRETE YOU SAY..NO our ability to travel hundreds of miles in a single day along our interstate highways or freeways is not all due to the invention of cement but instead to the glue that holds it all together--REBARB....MAN CAN NOT LIVE BY CEMENT ALONE--HE MUST HAVE REBARB FOR THE CEMENT TO DO ITS WONDER.
This present picture , I took when a junction of the new interstate was just being built,,Inter state Highway 20 traveling East and West across the US from California to Florida...thanks to REBARB..those beautiful steel rods of mass transportation..
