Flowers of Berkeley Park #1

There is a 2-3 week window, late July to August, when the alpine meadows just burst with color. Berkeley Park is a favorite place of many to enjoy the summer flowers. This area is shaped like a bowl that pours into a valley between Skyscraper Mt on the left and Fremont Mt. on the right. It's protected from the harsh elements on all sides by the surrounding mountains. The first photo is looking back on the trail we have just traveled. The very pale line on the ridge in the background is the trail to Fremont Fire Lookout. The second shot is where we are going. The trail meanders down into the valley, sometimes along a clear mountain stream, to a camp and eventually connects to the Grand Park/Lake Eleanor trail.
