Digging A Hole In Tomorrowland

'Digging A Hole In Tomorrowland' is part of The Songs Series, worked in 2004 in collaboration with Steve Tugwell, from his first CD. This is the third generation of the song, 'Digging A Hole In Tomorrowland'.

Digging a hole in tomorrowland
Finding it harder to breathe and
Pulling my fingers out through the sand
Building another belief in home.
copyright 2001; Steve Tugwell, Sleep

When I worked with Steve's songs, the first generation was to do all of the songs on Sleep. They came up to be worked in a different order from the way they were listed on the CD. When I mentioned that to Steve, he burned a new CD in the order they came up for me, and we both felt the CD was stronger in the energetic order they came up to be painted.

I chose foamboard as the support for this Series so that I could emboss the surface before and during painting, giving it additional texture and depth of interest copyright 2004; Loree Harrell

this is a gorgeous piece of art - I would put this on prime display in my family room. This was no one night stand, I can tell a lot of work went into this piece.

Artist Reply: Joseph, thank you for noticing!... no, three of the songs made it to third generation, and each took a solid week of 10-16 hour days. No one ever accused me of being speedy!
