Ice Hunks (about to be history...)

While we were having lunch, one of these pieces broke loose...lots of noise and a big splash caught our attention. These chunks are larger than a car. No place is safe, except high ground, when it comes to getting close to glaciers. There are other dangers besides falling ice and rock. Large amounts of water can collect within the glacier itself and eventually release causing a flash flood into the valley below. You can feel the ice move in your core when sitting on a rock for lunch. The glacier is an amazing force of nature, best viewed from a distance with binoculars...
